Genna is a photo stylist and painter based in Brooklyn. We wanted to tell a story that encompassed Genna’s work as well as her personality. She shuffled all of the furniture out of her living room and set up shop to paint this giant canvas for a client after schlepping it home in a severe rainstorm.

We talked about our businesses, our grandparents and the things they’ve passed down to us while we looked through her Grandmother’s jewelry. My favorite thing about documentary photography is connecting with people and learning about their lives. She spent the day listening to music and painting layer after layer until she was satisfied. Crawling all over the canvas and surely reaching the state of flow we creatives learn to live off of. Her cat, Luther, was an added bonus.
